Lloyd's insurer Ascot Underwriting has today announced it is opening US underwriting offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Hartford, Connecticut, subject to regulatory approval. These offices will focus primarily on property facultative reinsurance, and will support the firm's Houston, Texas office.
Rory Cline is joining Ascot as executive vice-president in the Chicago office. Cline was most recently the founding CEO of DirectFac, and has 27 years of underwriting experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry.
Paul Amrose will head up the Ascot Hartford office as senior vice-president. He has 23 years of underwriting experience in property reinsurance and was also a founding member of DirectFac, serving as chief underwriting officer.
In response to the departure of Cline, Kevin Davidson has been appointed CEO of DirectFac, which is a subsidiary of Avoca Insurance Holdings. He has also been named a director of Avoca's US operations subsidiary, Avoca Underwriting Partners. Davidson was most recently president of the direct facultative division at Munich Re America.
