Windstorm insured sums across eleven European countries have risen 2.3% over the past year, according to new data.
In an update to its Europe Industry Exposure database , Zurich-based insurance data provider PERILS says the year-on-year development has been driven by movement in the collected sums, as well as movements in market benchmarks.
The database contains market-wide sums insured for European windstorm for eleven countries including Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
In addition, the database includes updated property sums insured exposed to Italy and UK flood and Italy earthquake.
The insured sums amounted to a 3.5% increase at constant foreign exchange rates, with the year-on-year developments driven mainly by movements in collected sums insured data, plus movements in market benchmarks.
