Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Ltd is to offer specialty insurance in Europe with its affiliate, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance and has named outgoing Lloyd’s director Tom Bolt as president, UK and Southern Europe, effective June 1.
Bolt will also assume the role of CEO.
Former corporate risk manager Gregor Koehler takes over as president of BHIIL, Northern Europe, with immediate effect.
“Establishing European capabilities is a natural next step in the maturation of BHSI, and an important milestone in growing our global footprint,” Peter Eastwood, president and CEO of BHSI said in a statement.
Tom Bolt was most recently director of Performance Management at Lloyd’s. Before that, he was managing director of Marlborough Managing Agency and spent 25 years at the Berkshire Hathaway Group in a variety of senior executive roles, including senior vice president of the reinsurance division, and managing director of Tenecom and BHIIL.
He will be based in London, the company said.
Koehler was most recently president and CEO of Pallas Versicherung, AG, the global insurance division of Bayer Group. Prior to that, he was SVP at Marsh Inc., and managing director, Corporate Risk Management and Insurance, at Bertelsmann AG, the global media and services company.
