Reactions unveils LatAm winners

The winners of the Reactions Fourth Latin America Re/Insurance Awards were unveiled at a glamourous event at Miami’s prestigious Ritz Carlton resort in South Beach on Thursday night.

Following a packed day of discussions during the Reactions and Euromoney Seminars hosted Fifth Annual Latin American Insurance and Reinsurance Forum, attendees put on their best dress and filled out the Ritz Carlton’s ballroom to see which individuals and companies would be handed this year’s awards.

In the end, Suramericana went home with a quartet of awards. It was given Merger and Acquisition Deal of the Year for its purchase of RSA’s Latin American operations, while the firm was also named Andean Insurer of the Year.

Suramericana then went one better and was named Latin American Insurer of the Year and Gonzalo Alberto Perez Rojas was named Latin American Insurance Chief Executive of the Year.

Patria Re was another major winner, with the company and its chief executive, Ingrid Carlou, handed three awards. The first was for Latin American Re/insurance Deal of the Year in recognition of its move into Lloyd’s and the formation of Special Purpose Syndicate 6125.
