XL Catlin to launch private clients team - FREE

XL Catlin logoSimon Mobey is joining XL Catlin from Chubb to lead the insurer’s new private clients team.

XL Catlin’s new team will offer tailored covers for the high and ultra-high net worth (HNW/UHNW) market.

London-based Mobey will start as XL Catlin’s global head for private clients insurance on January 1 next year.

He was previously Chubb’s international private clients manager, with three decades’ market experience,

Mobey will join two experienced hires from American International Group (AIG) when the team begins underwriting next year.

Ann Owen has been appointed chief underwriting officer for insuring private clients and Chris Hawkes who has been appointed as private clients claims manager, effective immediately.

Owen joins XL Catlin from AIG, most recently holding the position of head of personal property and private client group for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, bringing two decades of experience.

Hawkes also joins from AIG and brings almost 20 years’ experience in personal lines and claims for high net worth private clients. 

“Given our strong underwriting expertise in a broad range of Specialty coverages, including fine art, jewellery, equine, kidnap and ransom, general aviation, yachts and accident and health products, we believe we are well positioned to provide a meaningful and differentiated offering which truly serves HNW and UHNW individuals,” said Neil Robertson, XL Catlin’s chief executive for global specialty insurance.

Robertson added: “HNW and UHNW individuals expect the highest levels of service, and I believe Simon, Ann and Chris, who are recognised by the market to be leaders in their field, have exactly the right credentials to develop and deliver an extremely relevant suite of products and services for this growing market sector. I look forward to seeing them launch this new offer to the market next year.”
